Cheryl A. Spencer, 48, of San Antonio, TX passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Iowa City Hospitals and Clinics. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 4th at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with the Rev. Shawn Roberts, officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at funeral home. Survivors include her son, Keelan Spencer of Fort Dodge; daughters, Mahleeyah Bandoo of Fort Dodge; Dameohna Bandoo of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Leelan Spencer, Kyren and Tyson Johnson; mother, Ruby Spencer of San Antonio, TX; brothers, DeWayne Spencer of San Antonio, TX; Steven Spencer of Fort Dodge; sister, Sandra Spencer of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Spencer; grandparents, Charlie and Kate Spencer; Henry and Beulah Seals; niece, Seconda Spencer; and her nephew, Jon Spencer. Cheryl A. Spencer was born on May 31, 1966 in Meridian, MS. As a young child she moved with her family to Fort Dodge. She attended schools here and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. She then attended South Dakota State College. Cheryl then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving till her honorable discharge and then continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves and also attended Iowa Central Community College where she studied social services. Cheryl was a home health care taker for her brother DeWayne for a number of years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cross stitching. Cheryl was truly loved by her family and friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
