Florence Diekman

Florence Emma Diekman, 78, of Fort Dodge, passed away at 5:45 am, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Villa Care Center. Florence was born March 12, 1936 in Kalo, IA. She was born to Art Martin and Ella Wegman. She attended school in Lehigh, IA. Before becoming ill Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a big loving heart, for people in general. She loved to cook, garden and homemaking. She also loved being outdoors and knitting. The apple of her eye was her grandchildren. A woman of strength, endurance and love, she always wanted the best for her offspring. She was an example of a fighter; she didn't give up on any hardships she faced. Florence is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, little John Hopson; son, Johnny Diekman; daughter, Jacquline Diekman and a grandson Michael Diekman. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Smith of Des Moines; son, Ricky Diekman of Ankeny; three daughters, Wilhemina Diekman; Brenda Diekman; Kelly Brown, all of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Natalie Brockman of Arizona; Antonio and Ethel Diekman; Tanya Diekman of Des Moines; Shalonya Diekman of Fort Dodge; Shawntel Brockman of Arizona; Jackie and DeAndra Diekman of St Louis, MO; Dontay Diekman of Fort Dodge; Dominic Diekman of Fort Dodge; Brian Diekman of Arizona; Raymond and Tenesha Birden of Waterloo; 25 great grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Lohr and brother, Gene Martin. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
