Florence M. Jondle, 92, of Fort Dodge, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Villa Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 9:45 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Moorland with Rev. Clem Currans officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Florence Margaret (Lennon) Jondle was born on June 18, 1922 in Clare, IA to Patrick and Anna Lennon. The family lived on a farm near Clare and Florence attended St. Matthew's Catholic School until the start of her senior year of high school at which time the family moved to Fort Dodge. Florence graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1940. Following graduation, she worked at Mercy Hospital and, later, Tobin Pack. Florence was united in marriage to Russell Jondle on January 31, 1942. They resided in Ft. Lauderdale, FL while Russell was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon their return to Iowa, Florence and Russell established their home on a farm south of Fort Dodge. The couple farmed until 1971 when they moved to Callender. Florence was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church of Moorland and served on the church council and was a member of the choir. She was a long time council member of 27 years for the city of Callender and also served on the election board for Webster County. Florence enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts and was known in the community for her talent for painting, in particular for painting on saw blades, and donated many painted items in the support of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, benefits for her church and St. Edmond High School. She also loved embroidery. Florence's main focus was her family and she was an excellent cook. She always had a large garden and canned tomatoes, making salsa every summer. There was always an open invitation for family members to come for Sunday dinners. She loved the outdoors and for the past 26 years she went with her husband, Russell, and family members on a fishing trip to Canada. The couple also collected arrowheads and other Indian artifacts that they found in the Webster County area. Florence is survived by her husband, Russell, and their eight children and their families: daughters, Kathleen Jensen (Colin); Karen Christensen (Michael); Jane Jondle (Tom Rabbitt); sons, Tom Jondle (Sheila); Jerry Jondle (Alana); Dan Jondle (Kim); Russell "Rusty" Jondle (Chris); Leo Jondle (Gayle); 27 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in deatch by her parents, Patrick and Anna (Powers) Lennon; brothers, Gene Lennon; Leo Lennon; sisters, Gertrude Fritz; Geraldine Black; and granddaughter, Alicia Jondle.
