Gregory Fitzgerald

Greg M. Fitzgerald, 71, of Fort Dodge died Thursday, November 11, 2021 at home. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Clare. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. He is survived by his wife Barb, daughters Sheila Fitzgerald of Overland Park, KS, Jamie (Scott) Friedmeyer, and grandson Cameron of Urbandale. He is also survived by his siblings Connie (David) Coughlon, Doug (Robin) Fitzgerald both of Colorado Springs, CO, Pam (Dan) Doyen of Crestwood, KY, Donna Fitzgerald of Indianapolis, IN, and Phil Fitzgerald of Grand Forks, ND. Greg was preceded in death by parents, brother Mike Fitzgerald, and nephews Troy Fitzgerald, Neal Fitzgerald, and Brian Coughlon. Greg was born May 2, 1950 in Fort Dodge to Ronald and Rosemary (Lahiff) Fitzgerald. Greg grew up in Clare. He graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1968. That year he began working at the Clare Cooperative Elevator. In 1969, he enlisted in the Army National Guard and served for 6 years. He married Barbara Webster on May 26, 1972, and they made their home in Clare. In 1978, they moved to Ames. Greg worked as manager of the Boone Farmers' Cooperative in Jordan. In 1979, he moved his family to Fort Dodge, when he took a position with New Cooperative of Fort Dodge. In 1981 he was promoted to manager at the Duncombe branch of New Coop. He spent 30 years with New Cooperative. Greg was a life-long Hawkeye fan, a Packers fan, enjoyed playing pool, loved to golf, and playing poker. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
