James F. Wiggerman, 82, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Bickford Assisted Living Cottages. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 14th at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be at Corpus Christi Church with Rev. Joseph Dillinger officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. post 1856 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary. James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie; daughters, Theresa Olson (Jay) of Aurora, CO; Lynne Aldana (Quentin) of Farmington, MN; Mary Jane Gormally (Bill) of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Emma Olson; Allison Olson; Gus Aldana; Max Aldana; Will Gormally; Keegan Gormally; and Rhiannon Gormally. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick V. and Catherine (Collins) Wiggerman; step-father, Frank Sherman and sister, Nancy Jane Gaul. James Frederick Wiggerman was born June 16, 1931 in Rock Valley, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Maurice, graduating from Maurice High School in 1949. James then enlisted into the United States Navy, where he served from 1950 until December of 1953. Upon his honorable discharge Jim returned to Le Mars where he began his career with industrial machinery in research and development. On October 28, 1958 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Lahr in Merrill, Iowa. The couple lived in the Le Mars area for a decade before establishing their home in Fort Dodge. Jim was the Teacher and Coordinator of the Machine Technology Program at Iowa Central Community College for over 25 years. In his retirement Jim enjoyed his home machine shop, playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, and taking trips with Bonnie all over the United States. In May 0f 2013, he participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Des Moines River Valley Tractor Club, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 1856. He was also active in the musical group "Jammers" that entertained Friendship Haven residents, especially those in Alzheimer's Care. Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
