Lloyd Messerly, 94, of Kansas and formerly of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Golden Living Care Center in Spring Hill, Kansas. A Celebration of Life service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Austin Hill officiating. A visitation will be Wednesday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Lloyd is survived by his children, Pam McVey and her husband Bill of Marshalltown; Dana Messerly and his wife Debbie of Olathe, KS; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert F. and Florence (Schleisman) Messerly; wife, Marian and grandson, Billy McVey. Lloyd Duane Messerly was born June 20, 1922 in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. On June 10, 1945 he was united in marriage to Marian Pingel. The couple first established their home on a farm northeast of Fort Dodge and then in 1959 they moved into Fort Dodge. Lloyd worked for Randall's Grocery Store for over 26 years before his retirement. In November of 2015, Lloyd moved to Olathe, Kansas. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
