Margaret Ruth Fevold, age 89 of Gowrie, died on Saturday, May 23, 2020 Simpson Health Center in Fort Dodge under the care of Hospice at Friendship Haven. Margaret Ruth Haugen was born on March 28, 1931 at Fort Dodge, Iowa to Berge Martin and Magdelena (Hamre) Haugen. She was baptized on May 10, 1931 and confirmed on May 28, 1944 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. She graduated with the Class of 1949 from Fort Dodge Senior High. She was employed at the Webster County PMA office in Fort Dodge. Margaret met Wilmer Fevold from Vincent at a Luther League meeting. They were married on September 25, 1951 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. They drove back to Hampton, Virginia where they lived for three years where Wilmer was stationed at Langley Air Force Base. Margaret and Wilmer moved to the Gowrie area where they farmed until they retired and moved into Gowrie. They were married for 64 years until Wilmer passed away in November of 2015. Margaret was involved in the Women of the Word group, and her circle at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Callender. She served as an officer of those groups, as well as being a Sunday School teacher. She also was a member of the Birthday Club from Roland Township for over 60 years, a past member and officer of the Gowrie Womens Club, and a member of the Webster County Womens Chorus. She was extremely proud of her 100% Norwegian heritage, and was an expert at making spritz, rosettes, krumkake, and kumla to name a few. She made rye bread for the many family dinners she hosted and made dozens of cream cheese mints for family confirmations, graduations, showers, and weddings. Her hobbies included baking, decorating cakes, cross-stitching, puzzles, word-searches, and gardening. She and Wilmer also were able to travel to Norway twice, Alaska, Russia, and the Panama Canal along with numerous trips in the States to visit friends and relatives. Her survivors include her children-John (Linda), Story City, Mark (Lynn), Lake View, Ruth (Dave Hanson), Gowrie, Chris (Cindy) , Gowrie, Tim (Phyllis), Nevada, Paul (Corrine), Gowrie, and Nathan (Lois) of Gowrie, a brother, Merven Haugen of Friendship Haven, and sister, Martha Gustafson (Tom) of Apple Valley, MN. Grandchildren include Adam, Kiersten, and Michaella Fevold, Jason Fevold, Jess Lehms, Ted Hanson, Hillary Lyons, Seth Fevold, Shelby Albert, Becca Vogel, Erik and Luke Fevold, Matthew Fevold, and Sarah Jo Reynolds. Her family also includes 14 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death is her husband, Wilmer, and sisters Johanna Wille and Sylvia Chadwick. Private family services and burial will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2020. Memorials may be directed to family discretion.
