Mary Ann Quade Herbert, 85, of Abilene, TX formerly of Clare, passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021, in Abilene, TX. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery in Clare. A visitation will start 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church. The services will be livesteamed via the Laufersweiler Funeral Home Facebook page. Mary Ann was born on October 17, 1936, in Ft. Dodge, IA to the late Lawrence Otto Quade and Agnes L. Manning. She attended nursing school in Marshalltown, IA. Mary Ann met the love of her life in Phoenix, AZ and on April 27, 1963, married Joseph Herbert in St. Paul, MN. They had one son, Kevin Herbert. She enjoyed spending time with family and sharing her sense of humor and sarcasm with those whom she loved. In 1972 Joseph and Mary Ann moved to Abilene before he retired from the Air Force in 1974. They were blessed with 34 years of marriage until Joseph passed away on April 25, 1997. Mary Ann worked for the Abilene Health Department and was known as the "red headed nurse who gave shots". She retired after 23 years with the city. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. Mary Ann was known for her spunk and enjoyed being young with her family and friends. Mary Ann is survived by her son, Kevin Herbert, and Toni Crumpton; siblings, Janet Quade (Bill), Marcia Quade, James Quade (Jane), Sue Kaye Quade, Lawrence Quade (Linda), Terrance Quade (Donna), Robert Quade (Kathy), Judith Quade Anderson (Gene), Sister Pamela (Peggy) Quade, PBVM, Pamela Quade Gehring (Clancy); care giver and adopted daughter, Edwina Sotelo and Louis Herrera; special friends, Angelina Anaya, Danielle Anaya, Michael Anaya, Isaiah Sotelo, Marissa Herrera; numerous extended family and friends. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
