Michael T. Kelly, 70, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 20th, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Deacon Dan Carney, officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy; daughter, Jill Kelly of Fort Dodge; son, Corey Kelly of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Jaxon and Aubrey Kelly; Daxton, Devin, Danny, Darrian, and Josh Kelly; brother, Patrick (Kelly) Kelly of Fonda, IA; sister, Jackie Kelly of Vincent, IA; brother-in-law, Ole (Lori) Deal of Fort Dodge; sisters-in-law, Susan Nelson of Fort Dodge; Julie (Brad) Alexander of Fort Dodge; Belinda Deal of Des Moines, IA; Michelle Deal of Fort Dodge; Melanie (Ben) Stanberg of Clare, IA; numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Jean (Korlaske) Kelly; brothers-in-law, Michael Deal, Jimmy Nelson, Mark Anderson; his Goddaughter and niece, Kristi Rivas. Michael Thomas Kelly was born on January 7, 1947, in Emmetsburg, IA. He attended schools there and in Fonda. Mike graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1965. Following his education, he went to work at Cargill until 1969. From 1968 to 1971, served in the U.S. Army until receiving his honorable discharge. Mike returned to Fort Dodge and went to work at Land O'Lakes from 1971 to 1981. On July 7, 1984, he was united in marriage to Cindy Deal and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. In 1982, he went to work at U.S. G. until his retirement in 2008. Mike enjoyed fishing with the grandkids at Okoboji, watching his nephews at the dirt track races in Webster City, and spending time with his family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
