Rockwell City Robert C. Flickinger 83, passed away early Sunday morning, September 8, 2019 at his home following a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Rev. Spencer Thury officiating, and a Military Flag Presentation by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home until service time. Robert "Bob" Charles Flickinger was born September 15, 1935 in Cherokee, Iowa. His parents were Hugo Noah and Evelyn Warren Noah. In 1956, Bob served in the United States Army, in which he was a driver for German Scientist Wernher Von Braun. He was honorably discharged in 1958. On August 19, 1968 he was united in marriage to Carol McLaughlin. Bob owned and operated Flickinger Sanitary Service in Rockwell City. Bob enjoyed playing chess and extremely early morning coffee with friends. He loved watching the Weather Channel and Wheel of Fortune. He was known for calling his daughters to check on the weather or make sure they were home before a storm hit. Bob could make friends anywhere and loved telling blonde jokes. He had a passion for racing stock cars and motorcycles. He went out of his way to help others and worked hard so that he could provide for his family. Bob loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Bob is survived by his wife Carol Flickinger of Rockwell City; children, Wendy (Steve) Teresi of Hebron, IL, Mark (Janet) Johnson of Harcourt, Betty (Leigh) Bauman of Schererville, IN, Roberta (Kent) Kolthoff of Cedar Rapids, and Heather (Adam) McClain of Ankeny; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lee (Ken) Gregory of Bowling Green, KY, and Rita (Pete) Hunt of Russellville, KY; brother Donnie Noah of Morgantown, KY; mother-in-law Elsie Schoop of Rockwell City; his faithful companion "Stitch"; and many other cherished family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Mike, and his brothers Hugo Jr. and Harold Noah.
