Rosemary Sampson

Rosemary Sampson, 91, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Fort Dodge. A visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Rosemary is survive-d by her children, Jennifer (Kenneth) Thurston of Gowrie; Marc Sampson of Waukee; Greg (Julie) Sampson of Fort Dodge; Michael (Rafael) Sampson of Orlando, FL; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Ertl of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Gretchen (Fisher) Berry; husband, Donald; son Stephen; siblings, Jerry Berry; Joan Ivory; Louise Freis and Virginia Olsen. Rosemary Sampson was born April 25, 1927 in Duncombe, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Duncombe; graduating from Duncombe High School in 1945. In 1950, Rosemary was united in marriage to Donald Sampson at Saint Joseph's Church, Duncombe. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Rosemary worked for over 18 years at Mercy Hospital and then later 14 years at Trinity Regional Hospital. She retired in 1989. Rosemary truly enjoyed being a Foster Grandmother; she loved helping the students and watched them grow. She was also a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Legion of Mary. Memorials may be left to the Foster Grandparent program.
