Ruth Ann Ritchey, 61, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A Celebration of life and time for friends to gather will be held on Saturday August 22nd from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the V.F.W. in Emmetsburg. Graveside services will be on Saturday August 22nd at 12:00 PM at Graettinger Cemetery in Graettinger. Following the graveside there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments at 4252 River Road Lane in Graettinger. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Survivors include her sons Chad Schany (Meaghan McCarthy) of Rosemont, MN, Travis Schany and his wife Carly of Graettinger, Tyler Ritchey and his wife Amanda of Cedar Falls, grandchildren Brynn Schany, Beau Schany, Blake Schany and Riley Ritchey, sister Mary (Dave) McDougal of Williamsport, MN, brother John (Hope) Hertel of Fallbrook, CA, foster mother Emily Neet of Emmetsburg, foster brother Lonnie Neet of Emmetsburg and her companion Denny Eagan of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents John Alfred and Carol (Field) Hertel. Ruth Ann Hertel was born on April 5, 1959 in Watseka, IL, where she was raised and educated until she was a teenager and moved to Emmetsburg. Ruth graduated from Emmetsburg High School and then attended and graduated from Iowa Central Community College. She lived in Graettinger for several years and later moved to Fort Dodge. For over 30 years Ruth worked as the shipping supervisor at Tursso in Fort Dodge. She retired earlier this year. Ruth loved to spend time with her grandchildren and truly enjoyed watching high school wrestling. She also enjoyed camping trips at Lost Island Lake.
