He was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Wilma (Kile) Kibby, siblings Duane Kibby and Wilda Coleman, and niece Teresa Coleman-Seifrid. William Russell Kibby was born May 3, 1939, in Adaza, IA. He graduated from Lohrville High School in 1957. He continued his education at Iowa State University and graduated from Central College in 1962. He began his teaching and coaching career with the Bayard School System. On June 20, 1964, he was united in marriage to Mary Kay Briscoe at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple established their first home in Johnston. William continued teaching and coaching along with being the athletic director for the Johnston Schools, Saint Edmond Catholic Schools, and Jefferson-Scranton Schools. Bill also spent 10 years as the director for the State 4H Camp in Madrid. He coached and substitute taught at St. Edmond until retiring in 2018. Bill was best known for the relationships he built with others. He was an exceptional coach, teacher, husband and father, but the title he cherished more than any other was "grandpa". His greatest joy was watching his grandchildren do the things they loved doing. Coach Kibby had a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of young people who provided him so much joy in return. Your work is done here, you have run your race, you have fought the good fight, you have kept the faith, and you have received your prize. 2 Timothy 4:7 Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
