Agnes E. McElroy, 88, of Clare, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Marian Home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 9:45 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church, Clare, with Rev. Joe Dillinger officiating Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Clare. A visitation will be Friday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Agnes is survived by her sons, Kenneth of Clare; John and his wife, Patsy, of Fort Dodge; daughters, Ann George and her husband, Kenneth, of Clare; Carol McElroy of Fort Dodge; Marilyn and her husband, Mike, McCann of Rosemount, MN; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Estella Ford; husband, William in 2007; son, Edward in 1981; brother, John; sister, Mary. Agnes Ford was born May 4, 1927 in rural Pioneer. She attended and graduated St. Matthew's High School in 1944. Agnes was united in marriage to William J. McElroy on November 19, 1949 at St. Matthew's Church in Clare, and the couple established their home on the farm. She was employed for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for several years and later as the Postmaster at Clare until retirement. Agnes was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and played in the same Bridge Club for 62 years. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
