Alan Curtis Williamson was born September 22, 1946 in Mason City. As a young child, Alan and his family moved to Fort Dodge where he was raised and educated. On April 16, 1966, Alan was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judith Fleming at Sacred Heart Church and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Known as “Big Al” to many, he and wife Judy were long-time owners of Don Peterson Photos. Alan then worked for the State of Iowa as a correctional officer, before thinking he was ready to retire. Anyone who knew Al, knew he could never fully retire. His favorite job throughout the years was being the friendly smile you would see in the check-out lane of Hy-Vee, sacking groceries. Al never met a stranger. Once Al met you, you had a lifelong friend. The very best of Al was his commitment to his family. He was a protector and provider who loved Judy immensely. He was so proud of his children. He would often speak of them with the greatest of pride. Blessed with many grandchildren, Al’s heart was full. Following their journeys and adventures brought him the greatest of joys. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church and the Fort Dodge Day Break Rotary. Al enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard, painting various home projects, and listening to the Oldies.
