Rockwell City Alice Mae Stotts 98, formerly of Twin Lakes, passed away Monday, November 8, 2021 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Fr. Lawrence McCarty officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial of casket will be at St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Church until service time. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Alice Mae is survived by her daughter Jane (Roger Lyle) Stotts of Gretna, NE; son Bill (Marjorie) Stotts of Palm Desert, CA; grandchildren, Dr. Corey (Rebecca) Stotts and Stephanie (Grant) Stotts; sisters, Neta Habbena of Joplin, MO and Pegge Hudgins of Kansas City, Mo; nephew Mike (Linda) Stotts of Lake City; and other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband William Wayne Stotts; her parents, Tony and Jane (Thelen) Resch; and infant sister Mary Jo. Alice Mae "May" Resch Stotts was born October 4, 1923, at LaSalle, IL. In 1924, her family moved to Rockwell City where her father owned and operated a shoe and harness repair shop. Alice Mae attended St. Francis Catholic School and graduated from Rockwell City High School with the Class of 1941. In 1944, she earned her RN degree from St. Joseph College of Nursing in Sioux City. Alice Mae had worked at the Doctors Hospital in Washington D.C., Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City, and Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. She also was an office nurse for Dr. Carver in Rockwell City. On January 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to William Wayne Stotts. The couple enjoyed living at Twin Lakes for 25 years. Wayne passed away in 2005. Alice Mae made her home at Sunnyview Independent Living. She was an active member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Altar Society, Reading Circle, Calhoun Co. Museum, Federated Study Club, Twin Lakes Golf Club and Bridge Clubs. Alice Mae also enjoyed singing in the Church Choir, sewing, and gardening.
