Alice Maxine Andrews

Alice Andrews, 93, of Fort Dodge peacefully entered her eternal home on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Survivors include her children, Ken and wife Jan Andrews of Algona; Carol Andrews; Kathy Lawler; and Jim Andrews all of Fort Dodge; son-in-law, Tim Lawler of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Zaugg, Mark Andrews, Lindsay Lawler, Allison (Dave) Rial; great-grandchildren, Tyler Zaugg, Abigail Zaugg, Emily Zaugg, Austin Andrews, Carter Rial and Gracie Rial; sister-in-law, Euleada Andrews of Highlands Ranch, CO. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Jane Schultz, Judy Andrews, Barbara Elkins, and Brian Holmgaard. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Edith (Mescheke) Dilges; loving husband, Marvin K. Andrews in 2012; sister, Irene Holmgaard; and step-mother, Ruth Dilges. Alice Maxine Dilges was born August 26, 1920 in Lehigh. As a child Alice and her family moved to Fort Dodge, where she graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1939. On December 14, 1946, Alice married Marvin K. Andrews at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Alice worked for the Boston Store and Kirkberg Jewelers, for a period of time. She also was an Election Poll Worker for over 35 years. Alice was a devoted Christian and a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a quilter and volunteer at the Mission House. She spent hours crocheting beautiful doilies for family and friends, but above all Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Memorials may be left to Unity Point Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
