A. Jean Aspenson, 92, of Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. John Sersland, St. Olaf Lutheran Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Jean is survived by her daughter, Ruth Lynn Aspenson; grandson, Ryan E. Aspenson both of Fort Dodge; and sisters, Elenora Sackett of Tulsa, OK and Gretchen Eppel of Spokane, WA; niece, Sherry (Doug) Marsh of Minneapolis, MN; Karen Sackett of Florida; and her nephews, Don and Keith Sackett both of Tulsa, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ruth (Davis) Lucas; brothers, William and Leslie Lucas. A. Jean Lucas was born August 6, 1922 in Boone. She was raised and educated in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 1940. Jean served in the United States Navy until receiving a medical honorable discharge. She then returned to Fort Meyers, FL where she was united in marriage to M. E. Aspenson. The couple lived in several locations while Morris "Gene" served in WWII. After the war the couple established their home in Minneapolis, MN. The couple relocated in Fort Dodge where they owned and operated Aspenson Drapery. The couple later divorced. Jean along with her daughter Ruth and later her grandson Ryan, lived in Santa Barbara, CA and Marysville, WA for many years before returning to Fort Dodge in 1998. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
