Alta P. Peterson, 95, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, surrounded by her family.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.
Survivors include grandchildren Shawn and (Lori Peterson) Miller of Webster City, Leslie Peterson of Escondido, CA, Harold and Lindsey Peterson of Wasilla, Alaska, Shelley and Jack Bair of Duncombe, Kris and Silvester Davis of Fort Dodge, Kim and (Dave Elsberry) Peterson of Webster City, Eric and Brenna Peterson of Nevada, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, siblings Le Roy Orr of Eagle Grove, Darlene Steffeson of Eagle Grove, Charlotte Orr of Milad City, ID, Mandy Juergensen of Apache Junction, AZ, Marilyn Dingman of Phoenix AZ, son-in-law Mike Miller of Duncombe, daughters-in-law Joanie Peterson of Fort Dodge and Lori Peterson of Huntsville, AL, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Enos and Anna (Williams) Orr, husband of 72 years Arthur Peterson, great grandson Bret Miller, sons Harold and James Peterson, just recently her daughter Jean Miller, siblings Clifford Orr, Wesley Orr, Dorothy Siefkin & Larry Orr.
Alta P. Orr was born on June 12, 1929, in Eagle Grove where she was raised and educated. On December 23, 1945, she was united in marriage to Arthur Peterson at her parents’ home in Eagle Grove. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. When the children were little Alta worked at the Webster City Hatchery candling eggs. She was very frugal and detailed oriented. Alta was an avid investor and watched the markets closely. She loved to be involved at her church Trinity United Methodist Church, going for walks, reading, and time spent with her family. Often, she would be playing cards with her friends at Citizens Central. For several years Alta and Art were house parents for the Lutheran Home in NW Fort Dodge.
Alta always requested no flowers at her funeral – In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the family request that you donate to Trinity United Methodist Church in memory of Alta or to your favorite charity.
