Alton "Al" Thomas Dorothy

Alton "Al" T. Dorothy Sr., 84, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26th at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers funeral home with Rev. Gary Snook officiating. Burial will follow at Callender Cemetery with Military Rites by the U. S. Army Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 1856. There will be a visitation on Thursday, September 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Alton is survived by his sons, Al Jr. (Patty) Dorothy; Monte (Judy) Dorothy; daughter, Julie Stanley all of Fort Dodge; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Opal (Williams) Dorothy; wife, Dee in 1996; son, Michael Dorothy; brothers, Harold, Cecil, and Kenneth Dorothy. Alton Thomas Dorothy, Sr. was born on January 6, 1930 in Stockport, IA. Alton was raised and educated in Stockport graduating in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1950. In 1953, Al was united in marriage to Dolores "Dee" Peterson in Fort Dodge. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Al worked for Georgia Pacific for nearly 40 years until retiring in 1995. He loved spending time with his family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
