Ann Theresa Johnston

Ann Theresa (Doyle) Johnston, formerly of Fort Dodge passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 due to complications of Alzheimer's. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church, with a time of sharing at 5:30 p.m. and a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Ann was born in Fort Dodge. She graduated from St. Edmond's in 1967. After completing cosmetology school, she spent 50 years as a stylist and entrepreneur, owning several salons over the years, notably The Upper Cut and ABoutique in Valley Junction, West Des Moines. Ann made friends everywhere she went. She loved quilting, painting, and travel. She traveled to Israel and Hawaii; she was particularly proud of her mission trip to Ghana, Africa. She lived near her grandkids in Arkansas until moving back to Iowa in 2018. Ann was very faithful and always active in church, most recently as a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral in Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Doyle, step-father Joseph Ivory, brother Joseph Doyle, and nephew Sean Runyan. She will be missed dearly by friends and family including mother Rita Ivory, sisters Nancy Weiss, Katherine Gaster, Suzan Runyan, and Mary Ohrtman, brother John Doyle, and step-siblings Cynthia Fenner, Robert, Tim, Doug, and Dennis Ivory, as well as her children, Richard (Michelle) and Allison (Jeremy), grandchildren Jordan (Justin), Samantha, Hailey, Alice, and great grandchild Ezekiel. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
