Archie Wayne Peterson, 86, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, April 29th, 2021. Funeral services will be held on Monday, 10:30 a.m. May 10, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church Pastor Dan Kahl officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery with military rites presented. Visitation will be held 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Archie Wayne Peterson was born on the family farm northwest of Burnside, Iowa, during a bad snowstorm on December 5, 1934. He was the youngest of 3 children, born to Leroy and Lillie Peterson. He was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, where he was immediately baptized. He went to Sunday School and church at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside with his family. He attended Burnside Consolidated School and graduated high school there on May 9, 1952. He married Betty L. Peterson who was originally from Eagle Grove, on September 16, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside. In June of 1957 (during peacetime) he was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent 6 years serving his country. He worked at Samuelson Implement, Avco-New Idea, and Standard Engineering before working 28 years as head custodian at South Junior High School (formerly Fair Oaks Middle School). He retired in May of 2000. Archie is survived by his daughter, Vicky L. (Gene) Lorsch of Omaha, NE; son, Douglas W. (Melissa) Peterson of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Michael Peterson; Hannah (Kyle) Olson; and a sister, Dorothy Allen of Kansas City, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2017, parents, and brother Vern Peterson. Archie was longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church where he volunteered in many ways along with serving as an usher on a regular basis. He was multi-gallon blood donor for the Blood Center of Iowa. Archie will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
