Arlene Ann Williams

Arlene A. Williams, a well-known local businesswoman passed away in her sleep at home on Wednesday night March 25th 2015. Mrs. Williams may be better known to some in Albuquerque as Arlene Ramsden. She took back her maiden name after a divorce in the 1980s. She was a member of the Real Estate profession in New Mexico for over thirty years, having sold nineteen houses in nineteen days in 1969. Arlene was also an investor and manager of three Albuquerque restaurants; The Polynesian Inn, The Robin Hood Inn and The Golden Slipper. She was active in Republican Party politics as a member of the Abraham Lincoln Chapter of the National Federation of Republican Women. In the 1990s she served as the Presiding Judge of the Bernalillo County Personnel Board. Arlene Williams was born in Fort Dodge Iowa, March 29th 1927 to Arch Williams and Irene Williams (nee Connors). She moved with her family to Albuquerque in 1962. She was a single mother and business woman in an age when that was a rarity. Arlene had a vibrant and focused personality that gave her success in business and great fun for her friends and family. She was preceded in death by; her parents, her sisters Mary Hatchitt and Margaret Williams, and several business partners and friends including John McDaniel. Arlene is survived by; her daughter Josephine White and son in law William H. White of Edgewood NM, daughter Margaret Foxx, son Arch Ramsden, grandchildren William M. White and spouse Kirsten, Thomas J. White and spouse April, Shane Foxx and spouse Raquel and Tarah Foxx, great grandchildren Caitlin, Eleanor, Mackenzie, Robert and Victoria White. A Rosary will be said on Tuesday, March 31st at 7:00 pm at FRENCH - Lomas, Albuquerque NM, 87112. A Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, April 1st at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE, Albuquerque NM 87122. Interment will take place The North Lawn Cemetery, in Fort Dodge Iowa.
