Callender Arthur "Bud" A. Sollie 94, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 27, 2021. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender, with Pastor Greg Stano and Pastor Deb Stano officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6 at the Church until service time. Burial will be at Callender Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is in charge of arrangements. Bud is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jeanette "Jean"; daughters, Christy (Alan) Fiala of Webster City and Susan (Brian) Wells of Mustang, OK; grandchildren, Jessica (Bryan) Lomicka, Erin Fiala, and Abby (Marcos) Luevanos; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Paige Heslop, Aspen and Ashton Lomicka, Jonah and Josiah Fiala, and Lailah, Lukah and Lieum Luevanos; great-great-granddaughter Ayva Lomicka; sisters Betty Hanson, JoAnne Pliner and Judy Payne; sisters, and brothers-in-law, Judy Corell, Mary (Joe) Schuster, Bette (Mitch) Schroder; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Stephen; parents, Art and Luella (Knutson) Sollie; father and mother-in-law, Clyde and BerNeysa Miersen; and brothers-in-law, Garland "Pete" Hanson, Roy Pliner and Jerry Payne. Arthur A. Sollie was born on his Mothers birthday, July 6, 1927 on the family farm near Callender. On June 26, 1949 he was united in marriage to Jeanette Miersen. Bud farmed for a short time before creating Betty Jean Manufacturing, a furniture business in Callender. Bud also owned and operated several retail furniture stores in Callender, Fort Dodge, Webster City, and Denison. Bud was an instrument-rated pilot and owned many planes over the years, his favorite being the Piper Cub. He would fly to the Midwest furniture markets and his daughters especially enjoyed the family plane trips. Bud and Jean spent many winters in Donna, Texas enjoying golf and the warm sunshine. The Sollie families enjoyed many years of fishing and camping at Twin Lakes, and Red Lake, Ontario, Canada. Bud loved to trade campers and Oldsmobiles about every other year. He was a lifelong member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, having served on several boards in his younger years. His Church family has a special place in his heart.
