Barbara A Hughes, 75, of Fort Dodge, passed away at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home Thursday, April 4, 2013. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. David Grindberg officiating. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Barbara is survived by her husband Harry Hughes; children, Steve (Linda) Miller of Rinard, IA; Tim (Becky) Henderson of Fort Dodge, IA; Kim (Rick) Quade of Somers, IA; Shelly (Todd) Powers of Farnhamville, IA; Marci (Rick) Markley of Rinard, IA; Colleen Hubert (Frank) of Davenport, FL; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Wayne) Lind of Jefferson, IA and Kae (Butch) Miller of Fort Dodge, IA. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, L.D. & Dema (Mothershead) Dowling; first husband, Floyd Miller; and her second husband, Junior W. Henderson; brothers, Bill and Jim Dowling; sister, Ilene Garrett; an infant son, Allan and great-grandson, Chase Wilson. Barbara was born August 23, 1937 in Bedford, Iowa. She was educated in Somers and graduated from Rockwell City. In 1954, she married Floyd E. Miller. The couple established their home in Somers. Barb and Floyd later divorced. In 1971, she was united in marriage to Junior Henderson and they lived in Fort Dodge. He passed away in 1981. She later in 1993, married Harry Hughes and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Besides being a homemaker and loving mom, as a young adult she worked at Globe Union for many years. She was also a Casey's store manager for several years and later worked for Dr. John Sears. She retired in 1992. She enjoyed gardening, cards, family, and especially her grandkids. She was a member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary.
