Barry D. Surles, 76, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 29th in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Pastor John Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Blairsburg Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 on Sunday at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Lori of Fort Dodge; daughters, Theresa Doster her husband Dave of Moorland; Andrea Surles of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Tristin and Ellie Doster, and Matthew Surles-Davis; sisters, Veda Faro and her husband Frank of Stanhope; Verna Dinsdale of Webster City; Karen Sullivan and her husband Eddie of Webster City; and Nancy Cooper and her husband LeRoy of Goodell; mother-in-law, Linda Padgett of Mesa, AZ; father-in-law; David Padgett and his wife Janet of Texas; brother-in-law, Tim Padgett of MO; sister-in-law, Tami Hull and her husband Dave of Ogden; numerous step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; and truly enjoyed the companionship and love of his dog Angel. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Matthew Surles; sister-in-law, Julie Padgett. Barry Dean Surles was born on October 22, 1938 in Iowa. In 1969, he was united in marriage to Jackie Hepperle and they made their home in Fort Dodge. To this union was born their 3 children. The couple were later divorced. Barry was employed with the city of Fort Dodge from 1968 to 2004 retiring after 36 years. He was united in marriage to Lori Padgett and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Barry loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed camping and especially liked to work in the garage and tinker with anything with an engine. Barry was always willing to help anyone that needed it and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
