Bernie Fisher

December 3, 1926 — February 21, 2019

Bernie Fisher, age 92, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, March 1, 2019 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Henderson, Pastor of St Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the funeral home. Surviving are her sons, Ronald and his wife, Gale of Fort Dodge, Mike and his wife, Cindy of Sacramento, CA; daughters, Leanne Halligan and her husband, Don of Lehigh, Carol Laufersweiler of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Mike (Sadie), Matt (Heather) and Mitch (Taylor) Halligan, Todd (Sauscha) Fisher and Kari (Nate) Dodd, Sarah Laufersweiler; great--grandchildren, Ashley, Carley and Abby Halligan, Kaci and Kaden Halligan, Alex and Millie Halligan, Nolan Fisher; step-grandchildren, Josh (Meghanne) and Miranda Williams (Paul Querin); and step great--grandchildren, Brylea Grady, Max Taylor, Avery and Riley Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Sylvia (McLuckie) Donner; husband, Alvin Fisher; sisters, Helen Lind and Wilma Schroeder; and son-in-law, Joseph Laufersweiler. Bernadine McLuckie Donner was born December 3, 1926 in Fort Dodge, lowa where she attended school. On November 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Alvin Fisher in Des Moines, lowa and they established their home in Fort Dodge. While her children were young, she was a homemaker and later established Bernie's Ceramics in her home which she operated for several years. She then became employed with the Fort Dodge School System in the hot lunch program and then worked in the Bakery at Hy-Vee until her retirement in 1991. Bernie enjoyed watching tennis, golf and football, fishing, watching movies, oil painting, trips to the casino and loved to read and put puzzles together. She enjoyed a lifetime of gardening and canning and always kept a well-stocked freezer full of cookies to share with her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
