Betty A. Brobst, 79, of Brooklyn, formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Betty is survived by her children, John (Levonne) Hilken of Monroe, MI; Mark (Kathy) Hilken of Fort Dodge; step-daughters, Kimberly (Richard) Hinkle of Brooklyn; Kathy (William) Gipple of Grinnell; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Heppner of Primghar; and step-father, Lyle Stolze of New Ulm, MN. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell (Gus) Hilken in 2001; parents, Cornelius and Myrtle (Lorenz) Heppner; and daughter, Judy Thompson. Betty Ann Heppner was born March 23, 1936 at St. James, MN. She was raised there and attended school in St. James. Betty was united in marriage to Russell (Gus) Hilken on September 4, 1953 in St. James, MN. The couple established their home in Spencer until moving to Fort Dodge in 1962 and enjoyed spending their winters in Texas. Betty then married Robert Brobst on October 7, 2006 at Victor, IA. The couple established their home in Brooklyn until Bob passed away in 2013. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran church and school. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
