Twin Lakes Betty D. Kratovil 86, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Memorial Services will be 2:00 pm. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Anita Bane officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church until service time. In Celebration of Bettys life, her family would appreciate you wearing something red, which was Bettys favorite color. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Betty is survived by her husband James; children, Vicki Kratovil of Scottsdale, AZ, Kurt (Patty) Kratovil of Cedar Rapids, and Jill Facon of Scottsdale, AZ; 4 grandchildren, Alyssa (Mark) Van Heukelon, Emily (Stephan) De La Cruz, Lydia Kratovil, and Andrew Facon; 4 great-grandchildren, Jessa De La Cruz, Luke Van Heukelon, Mae Van Heukelon, and Jack De La Cruz; her sister Dixie (James) Hindman of Westminster, MD, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Ervin Hobbs and Helen Dorlean (Foster) Hobbs; and brother Charles Hobbs. Betty Dean Hobbs was born August 16, 1933 in rural Whiting, Iowa. She graduated from Whiting High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Betty later earned her Associate of Arts degree from Iowa Central Community College. On June 1, 1952 she was united in marriage to James Kratovil at Cedar Falls. The couple lived in several communities including Nodaway, Minden, State Center, Pontiac, IL, and Fort Dodge. Betty worked as assistant administrator and activities director at Ellens Nursing Home and later Green Leaf in Fort Dodge. In 2000, the couple retired to their home at Twin Lakes. Betty was an active member of the United Methodist Church, UMW, Study Club, and volunteered at Sunny Knoll Care Centre. Betty loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and enjoyed their activities.
