Yvonne “Bonnie” Peterson, 76, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 18, 2024 in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Bonnie is survived by her children Nichole (Brian) Dawson-Thimm and their children, Jacob, Ramona, Brandon, Austin and Tyler; Danielle (Paul) Mathenia and their children, Benjamin Manrique, Elijah Manrique, and Mason Mathenia and Chantelle (David) Peterson and their child Markus; siblings, Shirley Stringer, Carol (Ed) Archer, Jim (Colleen) Stringer, Roger (Bon) Stringer; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Modesta “Des” (Allen) Stringer and her brother, David Stringer.

Yvonne Cecilia Stringer was born November 16, 1947 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Saint Edmond High School in 1965. She then furthered her education taking business classes at the local community college. Upon her graduation, she began working for Catholic Charities. On July 8, 1967 she was united in marriage to Gary Peterson. The couple made their home in Omaha and later were divorced. Bonnie worked for Control Data before becoming a travel agent for several years before her retirement. Later in life Bonnie returned to Fort Dodge and enjoyed "living in the country" as she referred to it. She loved nature and enjoyed watching the birds, deer and squirrels out her window. Bonnie was an avid reader and could always be found with a book in her hand. She played the violin and loved to travel. She was excited to be able to take her dad to England to see where he fought in the war and her mom to Ireland to visit her heritage. She also visited the Caribbean. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
