Brent "Ben" Newton, 50, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. A prayer service will conclude the service at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ben is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jackie; daughter Keli Culver; grandsons, Jabek Dunbar and Joseph "Joey" Culver Jr. all of Fort Dodge. Brent Nathan Newton was born November 2, 1969 in Winnebago, Nebraska. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1988. On December 19, 1987 he was united in marriage to Jackie. On August 13, 1988 they welcomed daughter Keli into the world. Ben worked at various jobs throughout the years including: Cold Storage, Americold, Friendship Haven and Ellen's as a nurse's aide, Hardees, McDonalds, Burger King, His & Hers Miniature Golf and Chesterfields Lounge. Ben also loved to volunteer his time around his community. He volunteered with the Cub Scouts for 4 years as the Cub Master Leader. He also volunteered at the Blanden Art Museum and Rogers Rangers. He often volunteered during the Frontier Days where he would work with Dave Parker and Colonel Bill Ryan. A former local artist, Sumner Heman often used Ben as subject matter in his drawings. Ben enjoyed throwing darts on leagues. He also enjoyed the delicate process of making Indian Bead Work. Ben was very proud of his Native American heritage. Ben was known for being very organized. He loved spending his free time playing board games and cards with his friends and family. Ben began having health problems in late 2004 and had to start dialysis weekly for the next 16 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lois (Stamper) Krivachek; granddaughter, Talaysia Culver; in laws, Mathew and Letha Peters. Ben was a people person and great friend to many. His big heart and great smile will be missed dearly. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
