Callie M. Cox, 86, of Fort Dodge departed this life on Friday, December 18, 2020 peacefully surrounded by her family at home. Funeral services will be TODAY, TUESDAY, December 22nd at 1:00pm at the Laufersweiler - Sievers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service. Callie leaves to cherish her loving memory; a son, Charlie (Phyra) Moore of New Orleans, LA, 3 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, all of New Orleans, LA; sisters; Louise Bender of Laurel, MS, Mahalia Guess of Freeport, IL, and Charlene Washington of Fort Dodge, brothers; Willie Burton of Lauderdale, MS, George Naylor of Sioux City, IA, and James Naylor of Des Moines, IA, and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Callie will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Rev. Monia Naylor; brothers, Johnny, William, Robert and Walter Naylor and a sister, Bettie Naylor. Callie Mae Cox born on January 8, 1934 to Carlie and Rev. Monie Naylor in Kemper County, MS. She grew up and attended school in Kemper County, MS. Callie was united in marriage to Eugene Moore. To that union they were blessed with a son, Charlie J. Moore. The couple later divorced. She was later united in marriage to Jock Sanders in 1960. After he passed away, she was united in marriage to Manson Cox in the year of 2000 in Fort Dodge, IA. Callie moved to Fort Dodge in 1966 from Laurel, MS. She was employed in various health care facilities throughout her life as a nurse's assistant. She also worked at family food aid for Webster County through Iowa State Extension. She worked as a Home Health Aid through Iowa State University Extension Program with a close friend, Amie Cole. She was employed with Northwoods Living for 10 years prior to her retirement. Callie was a former member of the Eastern Star. She served on many boards and committees in the community. Callie was faithful in visiting the sick and shut in and volunteering in help anyone or anything in the community that could use her services. Callie loved her family and her church family. She enjoyed serving as the church mother of her church where she was a member at Calvary Memorial Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop LeRoy Johnson. She also enjoyed helping her siblings with their children and enjoyed traveling, going to family gatherings and religious services and cooking.
