Carl W. Nitch, 86, of Clare died Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30th at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Military Rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Carl is survived by his children Michael (Janice) of Palmer, Tracy (Phyllis) of Heron Lake, MN, and daughter Laura Askeland of Mesa, AZ. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carrie Gabriel, Andrew Askeland, Tyler Nitch, Dakota Nitch, Trevor Askeland, Aeriel Peterson, and great grandchildren Robert, Drake, Aubree, Austin, Terril, Elizabeth, Lilly, Emma, Eleanor, Dixon, and Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Nina (White) Nitch, wife Jean in 2014, son-in-law, Brian Askeland, sisters Florence Dirks and Lucille Nitch. Carl William Nitch was born 1 of 14 children on September 24, 1935 in Fonda, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Fonda. He served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1960. He was united in marriage to Jean Rathbun on April 22, 1960 in Fonda. The couple first made Fort Dodge their home but then moved to Clare. Carl worked for Iowa Beef, Misty Harbor, and retired from Sanofi in 1999. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
