Gowrie Carol Jean Barnum 85, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at her home. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie, with Pastor Jim Davis and Pastor Denise Berns officiating. Burial will be at Gowrie Township Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is serving the family. Carol is survived by her 4 children; 4 grandchildren; 1 expected great-grandchild; brother Mark A. (Rhonda) Ingwersen; sister-in-law Lois (Barnum) LeValley; a number of cousins, including one in Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Barnum; and her parents, Louis and Lillian (Berner) Ingwersen. Carol Jean Ingwersen was born November 16, 1935 in Oxford Junction, Iowa. She graduated from Oxford Junction High School, with the Class of 1953, and the University of Iowa College of Nursing in 1957. In 1955, she was united in marriage to Dennis Barnum and together they raised four children, Sandra V. (Bradley Ebbesen), David L., Lisa M., and Kristin N. (Rodney) Dayton. The couple lived in various locations in Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and California while Dennis pursued his career in education. They retired to Gowrie in 1995.
