Rockwell City – Carole J. Block 93, of Friendship Haven, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 (PLEASE NOTE the DATE) at St. Paul’s Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor Denise Berns officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at the Laufersweiler’s Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to South Central Calhoun Elementary, 330 Brower Street, Rockwell City, IA 50579, attn: Nicole McChesney. Contributions will go to the "student needs" fund to be used for such items as coats, food, bus passes, eye glasses, books, field trips, and more.
Carole is survived by her children, Michael (Jeri) Block, Jack Block of Ames, and Catherine (Patrick) Low of Prescott, AZ; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband William Block; parents, Raymond and Lacey (Leichty) Pearson; brothers, Terry and Steve Pearson; and sister Pam Hayes.
Carole Jean Pearson was born February 22, 1931 at Sac City, Iowa. She graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1949. She furthered her education and received her bachelor’s degree from the Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. On August 31, 1950 she was united in marriage to William Block. The couple established their home on a farm near Rockwell City. Carole taught school for the Rockwell City School System from 1973 until her retirement in 1991. Following their retirement, the couple made their home in Gold Canyon, Arizona. Bill passed away in 2005. Carole returned to Rockwell City in 2013 at became a resident of Sunnyview Independent Living. In 2021, she moved to Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. Carole was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran & Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid golfer.
