Farnhamville- Carter M. Smith, 61, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie with Pastor Greg and Pastor Deb Stano officiating. Burial will be in Reading Township Cemetery, Farnhamville. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post #510 of Farnhamville. A visitation will be 10:00 AM until the start of the service at the funeral home. Carter is survived by his wife Margaret Smith of Farnhamville, daughter Kayla Smith (James Dorsey) of Farnhamville and son Adam (Taylor) Smith of Humboldt, grandchildren Isabella, Taylor, and Thomas Dorsey, Rut Smith and a future grandchild, siblings Susie Adkins, Pat Rose, Michael Carter, Jeanie Francis-Hayes, Jennifer Powers, Matthew Smith, and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father William Smith, mother Susanne (Fagan) Smith, father and mother-in-law Arnold and Catherine Stallman. Carter M Smith was born July 30, 1961 in Los Angeles, CA. The family moved to Iowa and he graduated from Hartley High School in Hartley, IA. After graduation, he served in the United States Army from 1985 to 1992. Carter was united in marriage to Margaret Stallman on July 11, 1987 at Sanborn, IA. He received his electronics maintenance degree from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. He worked at Farmland in Carroll from 1993-1998 before he began his employment with the United States Postal Service where he retired in 2020. Carter liked fishing, ham radios, and was an active member of the Iowa Postal Workers Union. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
