Catherine C. Hearn, 78, of Ames and formerly of Fort Dodge passed away, Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Israel Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20th at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19th at the funeral home, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Catherine is survived by her children, Kimberly Hearn; Kelly Rathert and her husband, Randy; Jeff Hearn and his wife, Deb all of Ames; grandchildren, Ryan (Niki) Rathert; Sarah (Troy) Devens; great-grandchildren, Noah Devens, Sophia and Aiden Rathert; sister, Janette Chambers of Spencer; brothers, Robert Maguire and his wife Linda of Mission Viejo, CA; Larry Maguire and his wife Judi of Huddleston, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John F. and Monica (Brennan) Maguire; husband, Donald D. Hearn; brothers, Bill; Pat; Tom; Harold Maguire and sister, Mary Runyan. Catherine Colleen Maguire was born November 2, 1935 in Emmetsburg. She graduated from Corpus Christi Academy. On October 22, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald Dean Hearn at Corpus Christi Church. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Catherine was a loving homemaker. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and the St. Louis Cardinals Fan. In 2012, Catherine moved to Ames to be closer to her children. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, but most of all spending time with family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
