Rockwell City Charles "Bill" Lawson 77, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Accura HealthCare of Pomeroy in Pomeroy, from complications with Lewy Body Dementia. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Father Lynn Bruch officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lohrville. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Church until service time. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home is serving the family. Bill is survived by his wife Fran; their children, Chuck (Carrie) Lawson of Plano, TX, and their children, Brittany Lawson, Bailey Lawson, Taylor Lawson, Alexa Lawson, Michael Duplanty, Cassie Duplanty, and Brian Hicks; Sue DeMilo of Lytton, and her children, Joey Paul, Stephanie Paul, and Brian Paul; and Matt (Lisa) Lawson of LuVerne, and their children, Jessica (Joey) Carroll, Kobe (Kadi) Lawson, Halle Lawson, and Ella Lawson; great-grandchildren, J.J. Hale, Kenlee Lawson, Kason Lawson, Bella Freeman, Jaylen Taylor, Amari Taylor, and one due in February; brother Denny Lawson of Cottonwood, AZ; sister-in-law Lorna Lawson of Urbandale; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Frank and Lucille Walter of Cedar Falls; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Michael Lawson; his parents, Vernon and Lena (Ferrin) Lawson; brothers, Larry and John Lawson; grandson Chris Fritz; and son-in-law Doug DeMilo. Charles William Lawson was born October 11, 1943 at Adaza, Iowa. He graduated from Lohrville High School, with the Class of 1962. On April 4, 1964 he was united in marriage to Frances Walter at St. Josephs Church in Lohrville. Bill worked for the Tasler Family. In 1967, they farmed southwest of Lytton until 1989. During his farming years, Bill also worked at Nobles in Sac City and New Idea in Fort Dodge. He later worked as a car salesman for Macke Motors and Fitzpatricks in Storm Lake. In 1989, Bill worked for Opportunity Living in transportation and maintenance. In 1998, he worked as a correctional officer at Fort Dodge then transferring to Rockwell City until his retirement in 2006. During Bills retirement life he owned and operated a lawn mowing and snow removal service until selling his business due to his health. You can take the man off the farm, but you cant take the farm out of the man. Bill loved playing cards, fishing, casino trips, dancing, and attending grandkids music and sporting events. Bill was a loving and generous to a fault, always ready with a quick $20 for gas, or anything his children and grandchildren needed. Fran was the love of his life. They celebrated 57 years of marriage and never dated anyone else after Junior Senior High School.
