Charlotte E. Leiss, 82, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016, at her daughter's home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Joe Dillinger officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Vigil at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Walker of Fort Dodge and her children, Justin Long, Danita walker, Garrett Walker, and Brhea Martinez; son, Kevin Leiss of Council Bluffs and his children, Korey Leiss, Kasey Leiss, and Kristen Leiss; step-sons, Thomas (Kay) Leiss of Omaha, NE; Tim (Sandie) Leiss of Freemont, NE; Randy (Connie) Leiss of Fort Dodge; step-daughter, Barbara (Roy) Freed of Tucson, AZ; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sisters, Rose Mary Newby of Fort Dodge; Mary Fitzgerald of Otho; Kathy Gobeli of Fort Dodge; brothers, Ralph Ewing, Charles Ewing, and Howard Ewing all of Fort Dodge; Gary Ewing of Colorado; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leiss in 2004; parents, Everett and Cecelia (Conley) Ewing; sister, Ann Snyder; and brother, Robert Ewing. Charlotte (Ewing) Leiss was born on May 25, 1933, in Duncombe, IA. She was educated in Lehigh; graduating from Lehigh High School in 1951. Charlotte worked at Kresge's, the Rodenborn Glove Factory and the Boston Store for several years. On August 4, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Leiss in Mitchell, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Charlotte retired in 1991, after working for the Fort Dodge Public School System for 18 years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and most importantly spending time with her loved ones; especially the family vacation camping trips. Charlotte was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, the Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
