Charlotte F. Hart, 92, died at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond, IA on Friday, January 29, 2016. She was born on July 24, 1923 in Rolfe, IA to George and Abbie Sheeley. She grew up in the Rolfe area and attended school there. Charlotte graduated in 1941, receiving a "Normal Certificate in Teaching" in 1942. She worked at Webb's Drug Store in Rolfe. On May 4, 1944, Charlotte was united in marriage to Leo D. Hart in Oakland, CA, while he was serving in the Army. After being honorably discharged, they made their home in Rolfe and then later in Fort Dodge. To this marriage, five children were born. Leo died in 1989 at the age of 65. Charlotte was very active at Sacred Heart Parish and was a volunteer at the Marian Home for many years. She was also a greeter and volunteer at Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge. Charlotte made many friends through volunteering. She and her friends loved to attend other church bazaars to get ideas for the crafting at the Marian Home. Charlotte loved to sew and made many quilts and embroidered countless sets of tea towels for the bazaars and for gifts. She also truly enjoyed sewing for her many granddaughters. One of Charlotte's greatest passions was reading, and it was a gift she passed onto all her children. She loved to plant and care for flowers in her yard and would share them with friends and family. Charlotte baked sugar cookies, always in the heart shape, and brought to every family gathering. She has lived in Dows since 2010 to be closer to her daughter, Jeanne, because she in need of a little more care. Charlotte is survived by her children, Tom (Candy) Hart of Readlyn, IA; Jeanne (Craig) Russell of Dows, IA; Cindy (Ralph) Torrellas of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA; Sheila (Jim) Edwards of Fort Dodge, IA; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Abbie Sheeley; husband, Leo; son, Alvin Hart; granddaughter, Wendy Hart; siblings, Rowena Flynn; Inez Wilcox; Jerushabelle Pagel; Elizabeth Budolfson; Verne Williams; Robert Williams; Wilbur Sheeley; Howard Sheeley; Ted Sheeley; and Mamie Sheeley. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Dillinger officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
