Cheryl Lynn Swedlund

Cheryl L. Swedlund, 66, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. A visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Funeral services are private Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Cheryl Wymer was born October 20th, 1950 to Edward J. and Alice M. (Merkle) Wymer in Algona, Iowa. The family first established their home in Estherville, IA before settling in Fort Dodge. Cheryl attended schools in Fort Dodge before graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1969. Following high school Cheryl attended I.C.C.C. successfully completing a Clerical Program. Shortly there after she began working for the Fort Dodge Water Department. On September 15th, 1972 Cheryl Wymer was united in marriage to Curtis Swedlund. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. In April of 1975 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and retired shortly there after. Cheryl enjoyed reading, working on cross word puzzles and anything Christmas. During the course of the next forty two years Cheryl always maintained a strong faith and positive attitude on life. Those thankful for Cheryl's life include; her husband, Curtis Swedlund; Son, Jason Swedlund; a special friend in Veronica Averill and Sadie, her puppy, faithful and always present companion. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. and Alice M. (Merkel) Wymer, Grandparents, Edward and Sadie (Bolon) Wymer and Lewis and Leah Merkel. The family would like to especially thank all of Cheryl's doctors and care givers, over the course of the past forty two years, for their professionalism, dedication and compassion throughout the course of her lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
