Chris A. Thoma, 65, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Wednesday, August 11th, 2021, at Journey's Friendship Haven after a courageous battle with Parkinson's and cancer. A celebration of Chris's life will be held on Friday, August 27th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with a time of prayer and sharing at 6:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife Jacque, siblings Todd (Betty) Thoma, Joe (Mary) Thoma, Jean (Jim) Farrell, Randy (Melanie) Thoma, sister-in-law Connie Thoma, Mother-in-law Norma Cerney, brother-in-law Bob Meyer, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clete and Gert Thoma, brothers Bill and John Thoma, son Shyler Thoma, father-in-law Jack Cerney, sister-in-law Sue (Rick) Thoma, sisters-in-law Linda Cerney Meyer and Brenda Cerney Dickerson. Christopher Alan Thoma was born on February 22, 1956, in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated near Barnum. Chris graduated from Barnum High School (N.W.W.) in 1974. In 1978, he was united in marriage to Jacque Cerney and the couple made their home on an acreage near Barnum. Chris owned and operated Fort Dodge Starter and Generator in downtown Fort Dodge for many years. He was later employed with U.S. Water of Fort Dodge where he did mechanical work. Chris loved fishing, hunting, and having fun. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
