Clarence Joseph Lomicka

March 19, 1921 — December 13, 2015

Clarence J. Lomicka, 94, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Simpson Health Center Friendship Haven. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Kitterman officiating. Burial will follow at Elkhorn Township Cemetery, near Moorland, with military rites conducted by the United States Army and VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Clarence is survived by his wife, Kay; children, John and his wife Patricia Lomicka of Callender; Janet Nordin and her husband Dan of Gowrie; step-children, Julie Harley and her husband Steve of Winneston, NE; and Diane Jackson and her husband Doug of Helena, AL; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one step-great-granddaughter; and brother, Ernst Lomicka of Apple Valley, MN. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Albina (Stanek) Lomicka and first wife, Mildred Lomicka. Clarence Joseph Lomicka was born March 19, 1921 at home on the family farm in Callender. In 1938, he graduated from Moorland High School. Clarence served during WWII in the Army from 1943 until 1946 and played the trumpet in the Army Air Corp Band. He was united in marriage to Mildred Schultz in 1946 and the couple established their home and farmed near Callender. In 1983, Mildred passed away. Clarence farmed until retiring in 1986. Clarence was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Callendar for many years. He served for six years on the board at the Callender Grain Elevator. On March 18, 1989 he was united in marriage to Kay Ranniger Kennedy at the First Covenant Church in Fort Dodge. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge and they have spent their winter months in Mesa, Arizona since 1999. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge and was part of ZCBJ. Memorials may be left to the family's discretion.
