Callender- Claribell “Clara” Larson, 89, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at her home.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Callender with Pastor Greg Stano and Pastor Deb Stano officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Callender Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, June 17, 2024, at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.
Clara is survived by her children, Gary (Roberta) Larson of Burnside, Marlon Larson of Callender, Bob (Vicki) Larson of rural Otho; grandchildren, Josh (Kelsey) Brown, Jacqueline (Loren) Zuspann, Miranda Larson, Adam (Chrissy) Larson, Amber Larson, Andrew Larson, Austine Larson, Reanna Larson, Shelby Larson, Emily Larson, Mckenze Larson; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister’s, Joan Williams of Spencer, Joyce Meyer of Marshalltown, Jeanette Waterman of Storm Lake, Pat Lilly of Riverside, her sister-in-law and best friend Alice Larson, and sister-in-law Carla Larson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowell and Katheryn (Shaw) Waterman, her husband Richard Larson, and grandson, Bobby Jr.
Claribell Larson was born on September 22, 1934, in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was raised in the country near Rembrandt, Iowa and went to Lincoln Lee school in the country near Rembrandt through 6th grade and then went to Rembrandt School from 7th grade through high school where she graduated from in 1954. She attended and was baptized at a Lutheran Church in Rembrandt.
In the earlier years, Clara worked at Rodenborn Glove Factory in Fort Dodge, the Callender School as a cook, and the Gowrie Care Center in the laundry department until she retired. In 1956, she was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Larson at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. The couple made their home at the farm where Dick was born and raised in Callender, with the exception of the 6 years they spent on a farm East of Callender. They attended Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Callender. Clara enjoyed playing cards, coffee with her friends, church activities, spending time with her family, and helping with the grandkids.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
