Claude Franklin Geopfert

February 16, 1945 — June 24, 2017

Claude F. Geopfert, age 72, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2017 in the chapel of Laufersweiler- Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Snook officiating. A visitation will begin at noon prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Claude is survived by his wife, Marcella of Fort Dodge; sons, Andy (Mary McKellips) of Fort Dodge; Wade, (Stacy) of Webster City; Ronnie (Jamie) of Fort Dodge; and Lonnie (Heather) of Fort Dodge; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Maureen) Hansch of Fort Dodge; Virgil (Charlotte) of Amarillo, TX; sisters, Mary Jones of Carthage, TN; and Janet Wendell of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Clara (Mussellman) Geopfert; and brothers, Elmer; Mickey; Gene; and Gary Geopfert. Claude Franklin Geopfert was born February 16, 1945 in Fort Dodge. He began his education in the Cedar Valley school system before his family moved to Fort Dodge where he graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Fort Dodge and soon after, married Marcella Buckley. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. He was employed with Hormel for a number of years and upon its closing, he began working for Georgia Pacific. Claude was very active in the union. Upon his retirement in 2007, he had been serving as Vice President of PACE Local 7-0503 for a number of years. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
