Colleen 'Coke' Ellis

Jolley Colleen R. "Coke" or "Grandma Pop" Ellis 85, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Accura HealthCare of Pomeroy. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Jolley Community United Methodist Church, Jolley, with Rev. Dan Fernandez officiating. Burial of casket will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, near Jolley. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Colleen is survived by her daughters, Julie (Todd) Erskine of Ankeny, Jill (Victor Carrasco) Ellis of Sparks, Nevada, and Jana (Edward) Bode of Plainfield, Illinois; five grandchildren, Ryan (Bobbi Jo) Erskine, Kristan (Trent) Muhr, Stefanie Bode, Angela Bode, and Alexis Carrasco; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; her parents, Walter and Gertrude (Ringgenberg) Wurn; sister Janice Wurn; and brothers, Ronald and Richard Wurn. Colleen Rae Wurn Ellis was born August 21, 1937 at Lake City, Iowa. She graduated from Pomeroy High School, with the Class of 1955. Colleen attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Following her education, she taught school in Sioux City and in Lytton for a short time. On August 2, 1959 she was united in marriage to Leonard L. Ellis at the Lytton Presbyterian Church in Lytton. The couple farmed in the Jolley area for most of their lives. Leonard passed away in 2018. Colleen enjoyed word puzzles, gardening, and cooking. She was an avid fan of her grandchildrens activities. Colleen was an active member of Jolley Community United Methodist Church, Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasurer, and Womens Circle.
