Cynthia Newman

Cynthia Newman, 76, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday June, 3, 2024 at Simpson Heath Center, Friendship Haven. Services will be held at a later date. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family.


Cynthia was born on November 5, 1947, in Webster City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Wallace William and Barbara Ann Jensen (Stein). She preferred to go by the nickname “Cindy.” She graduated from Webster City High School on May 28, 1965. On November 17, 1971, she was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Newman, and to this union three children: Tony, Terri, and Tia were born. The couple established their home in Callender and later Fort Dodge. Cindy was a longtime employee of Friskies Nestle Purina, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where she retired at 64.


Cindy was of the Lutheran faith. She loved reading her bible and writing down touching bible verses. She also loved to drink coffee and sit out on her porch swing. She enjoyed sewing, carpentry, and bingo. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gifting her grandchildren and great grandchildren chocolates, candy, stuffed animals, and dolls when they came to visit.


Surviving is her children; son, Tony Newman in Manson; daughters, Terri (Hamidullah) Al-Hameed in Fort Dodge, Tia Newman Carr in Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Sophia, Hunter, Lindsay, Whitney, Sidney, Rashad, Valencia, Keevia, Kaliah, Taleah, Malachia; great-grandchildren, Clover, D’Prese, Jaybrielle, Maleah, Eva, Blessitt, Sonti, Suriah, Sir’On, Aaron, Riley, Ramiya, Jazelle, Jazuri, June, Zyaire, Liberty, Londyn, Lanaya, India, Darius, Nyleah, Navaeh, A’mier, Mai’jour; siblings, Roger (Glenna) Jensen, Janice (Elmer) Kunz, Keith Jensen, Dale Jensen, and Christine Elliott. Also surviving is one nephew, several nieces, and extended family members.


She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; parents, Wallace and Barbara; a grandson, Quinn Riley Al-Hameed; a brother, Wallace William Jensen Jr.; a niece, Renee Rollins.


Cindy was a kind, loving, and generous soul. She was cherished by many and will be deeply missed. We rejoice in knowing we will see her again one day. Memorials may be left at the discretion of the family.
