Cynthia S. Barker

Sac City Cynthia S. Barker 58, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center, following her battle with cancer. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Cindy is survived by her husband Rob Barker of Coon Rapids; daughter Amanda (Jon) Cates of Rochester, NY; son Jeff Niehaus of Estherville; sisters, Cathy Smith of Knoke, and Christy Fister of Lytton; brother Eugene (Melanie) Cleland of Round Lake, MN; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ron and Sue (Bell) Cleland. Cynthia Sue Cleland Barker was born July 31, 1961 at Sac City, Iowa. She graduated from Lytton High School, with the Class of 1980. In 1981, she was united in marriage to Steven Niehaus and two children, Amanda and Jeff were born to this union. The couple later divorced. In 2005, she married Rob Barker. Cindy managed convenience stores in the area for most of her life. She enjoyed riding her motorcycle, gardening, and her dogs.
