Dale B. Moore

October 13, 1936 — March 5, 2017

Dale B. Moore, 80, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Fort Dodge and Twin Lakes passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2420 Coats Drive Fort Dodge, Iowa (near Coalville). Dale was born October 13, 1936 in Jamesport, Missouri to Merritt (Red) and Lana Moore. He grew up in the Earlham area and attended Earlham High School, graduating in 1954. He served two years in the US Army. In 1956 he was united in marriage to Sharon L. Clague. Dale was in the rock quarry and road construction business throughout his career. He was Quarry Superintendent with Weaver Construction Company in Alden, Iowa He was later employed as a Construction Superintendent for Iowa Road Builders in the Iowa City, Iowa area. He moved to Fort Dodge area in 1974 and joined his brother, Ivan, as partner in Fort Dodge Asphalt Company. During his years there his company expanded the asphalt business to the Atlanta, Georgia area. Dale was also a President of the Asphalt Paving Association. Dale retired in 2002, spending his time between Florida and Iowa. Dale compassionately and generously gave to others on a continual basis. Dale left a lasting legacy here on earth for others to follow. When trying to highlight Dales life it seemed impossible. He served our country, raised two children, started a business, and could do anything. Dale was a hero to many, so summarizing his life up in a few words seemed like a fruitless effort. While we still believe this we are going to do our best to do him justice, and hopefully show you a little bit of the person he was. Our family has always been close and always stuck together. He took care of everyone in one-way or another. Dale always saw the best in everyone and never spoke ill of anyone. Dale enjoyed traveling in his motor coach with his wife, Sharon, and beloved dog, Hank. He also could not resist his nightly bowl of ice cream with Hank. Dale was known for taking rides on his Harley and attending Sturgis. Dale enjoyed exploring the Southwest Florida waters. Dale loved sharing his Florida home with family and friends. And was also known for taking friends out for a great dinner and you had better not try to pay the bill. Memories of Dale will live on through all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. We are ever so grateful for the time he had with us here on earth. Dale was a member of the Masons and Capri Christian Church of Isle of Capri, Florida. We have all had a piece of us taken away but we can rest easy knowing he is in a much better place. Dale is survived by his wife Sharon L. Moore(of 61 years); his children, Michael (Cindy) Moore of Fort Dodge and Deb (David) Sundeen of McDonough, GA; grandchildren, Nathan Moore of Fort Dodge, IA, Luke (Amanda) Moore of Cedar Falls, IA, Dana (Dean) Oswald of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Christopher (Natalie) Sundeen of Jackson, GA, Amber Sundeen of Atlanta, GA, and Paige Sundeen of Hampton, GA; great-grandchildren, Kylei and Halei Moore, Lily and Asher Moore, Parker, Hadley, Ansley and Edy Oswald, Channing and Maverick Sundeen, Jace and Scarlett Jackson; his sisters Twila (Bill) Compton of North Carolina and Imogene Kasal of Waukee, Iowa.
