November 29, 1931 — June 3, 2016

Dale E. DeSart, 84, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Dale is survived by his wife, Bunny; daughters, Vicky (Mike) Grell of Fort Dodge; Linda Davis of Ames; sons, David DeSart of Avon Lake; Roger (Penny) DeSart of Rancho Cucamongo, CA; grandchildren, Chris; P.J.; Crystal; Cory; Kelly; Ashley; Travis; Meredith; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Matilda (Hausman) DeSart; sisters, Hazel; Velma; Vera; Helen; Donnabelle; and brothers, Lawrence "Pete" and Guy; his grandson, Chad Grell. Dale E. DeSart was born November 29, 1931 in Lake City. As a young teenager, Dale and his family settled in Cresco. In the Cresco High School, Dale was a two time State Champion for wrestling. On August 5, 1950, Dale was united in marriage to Bunny Buntrock and the couple established their home in Waterloo. Dale then enlisted in the United States Air Force serving until his honorable discharge. For over thirty years Dale worked for Rath Packing Plant. In 1987, the couple moved to Reno, NV for ten years before establishing their home in Ralston. The couple relocated Fort Dodge in 2014. Dale was an accomplished taxidermist throughout his adulthood and he loved to fish and hunt. He truly enjoyed the companionship of his dogs, rabbits, goats and other pets that were a big part of his life. Most of all, his family meant everything to him. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
